Brev: A strange country | Letter
Et brev skrevet til en englænder der forklarer om forholdene i Danmark. Det er fra et eksamenssæt fra 2003 og opgaven hed "A Strange Country."
First of all, I want to thank you for your letter. It was very nice of you to write, and I enjoyed your letter very much. I also learned a lot about Great Britain, so I thought I'd write a bit about Denmark and our traditions.
Generally, the Danish people are friendly and forthcoming, but some of the people aren't. In Denmark, some people believe in an unwritten law called the “Jantelov”, which says that you shouldn't think, that you're better than others, you are nothing and everyone's the same, so you shouldn't emphasize yourself too much when talking to others.
I think the weather is pretty much the same as it is in London, cloudy and wet. But sometimes the sun is shining, and that's very nice. People also talk a lot about the weather in Denmark.
