Uddrag

Why did I choose this topic?
One day I heard my cousin and my aunt discussing English children at 4 years of age, who was able to read. I didn't understand that, as Danish children start to read when they're 7 or 8 years old. So I found the difference interesting, and I wanted to know more about the differences between the educational systems in Denmark and in Britain.

Description of both public educational systems.
In Denmark we usually start in nursery school about the age of 3. Nursery school is voluntary. When the child is 6 years old, the real school starts; first 1 year of preschool and afterwards 9 years of ordinary school – the first 5 years as primary school and the last 4 as secondary. After 9th grade many youngsters join a boarding school for one year or so or attend the 10th grade in a public school where it's possible as many schools do not have the 10th in order to save money. After the compulsory education the pupils continue in colleges, technical- or business schools.
To sum up: In Denmark we have 10 years of compulsory education – the 10th grade is voluntary... Køb adgang for at læse mere
