Opgaven giver et overblik over racismen i USA. Fokus ligger på lynchning og Ku Klux Klan.

Racism or discrimination started a long time ago in the USA. It started as slavery, where the whites brought blacks to America as work power. The only way a slave could be free, was if his master gave him his freedom or if the slave fled to Canada. A good film about slavery is “Uncle Tom's Cabin”, it is very learning. The Civil War lasted four years (1861-1865), it was between the North and the South states. In the North they had abolished slavery, but in the South they would not give up the slaves. Then it ended in war. The North states won, and slavery was abolished in the South. But there was made special laws fore the blacks, Jim Crow Laws :

1: They could not go to the same schools.
2: They were kept out of certain hotels, restaurants and railroad cars.
3: They had to sit in the behind of busses and streetcars.
4: There was signs telling the blacks not to sit in certain seats.
5: Not to apply for certain jobs.
